Everything is working for now….. Well at least everything important to the vast majority of our users. The PBX is operational for now but I have a large chunk of storage from another machine that is no longer available. This is likely due to the recent extremely cold weather and the fact that the storage array is outside in a shed connected to another server running TrueNAS. The storage for the PBX is also there but in a different storage pool than what was affected, During this time while I try to identify the single drive out of 10 in the array that has failed services may be interrupted for a short period of time. I am also weighing the options of bringing the storage array into the house and connecting it directly to the master server in here which runs all the virtual servers that makes everything possible. This can be tricky as I may lose a whole lot of data considering I have 10 Drives in the array outside and probably 6 of them are 4TB each and 4 2TB drives. So this will not be a decision I make lightly if I decide to bring the array inside and connect it to another server and hopefully be able to retain all the current data including the virtual disk files for the PBX system. Either way I have a lot of work ahead of me and I just want to let you all know that during this time services may be up and down until I get it all sorted out. If I do decide to bring the disk array inside and connect it to another server I will first shutdown the PBX system and try to retain a copy of the current virtual disk files just in case. Do not fear though, I do have backups of the PBX system which could be restored from another machine in the event that a worst case scenario event happens so we won’t lose everything but it will add time onto my getting the services active again. Be sure to check back here for updates, if you’re on Mastodon social media somewhere follow the account @AmateurWire@social.amateurwire.org to get the news directly in your feeds as well because once everything goes down to be swapped and fixed this site will also not be available.
