As many of you may know we currently support Callsign dialing. If your phone supports Alpha numeric dialing currently you can enter the Callsign of a user (Example Dialing KE8LCM in your phone) and it will call their extension. We also support DMR ID dialing but doing both has made things a bit messy the more users we add. So I am asking for the users to comment. If you are registered with this site you should be able to comment on this article. I would like to know your thoughts on the Callsign Dialing feature. Is this something you would really like us to keep or not? From our standpoint we can continue on how we are going now but for every extension we add we technically add two extensions for every user. Your 4 digit extensions have an alias which is your Callsign. So when the callsign is entered and then called it dials your 4 digit extension. The second extension is your DMR ID which we just point to your 4 digit extension number and doing this is like adding an entire second Extension. It really does not matter but it is more work and more messy when we go to look at all the extensions on the system. If we were to stop using the Callsign as the alias and instead used your DMR ID’s this would be more streamlined on our end. It would make adding the extensions take less time and when we go into the system looking at extensions will be much cleaner and easier as well. I would just like your input on this. I will give everyone around a week from Saturday March 15th to give us your input. If there are no comments at all or if we get a lot of responses in favor of this change by March 22nd I will begin the process of changing all the extensions over. If most of you comment and want to keep the feature the way it is then it will be so, after all I run this here for you not myself. It is fun and a great learning experience but you guys are who this is really for so I feel you should have a say in a major change like this.
