Community Update: Integrity, Infrastructure, and Moving Forward
Recent events surrounding our video and communications rooms have officially come to a head. First and foremost, let there be no mistake: we are not going anywhere. AmateurWire is here to stay.
With the decisive actions taken today to protect our community, it is highly anticipated that a coordinated smear campaign will follow. This is not unprecedented; the individual recently removed from our network for targeted harassment has a history of this exact behavior. You will likely hear a wave of misinformation being circulated across various digital radio modes, including Peanut and Allstar.
I am not going to waste time defending the platform or justifying our security decisions to bad actors. AmateurWire was built out of a genuine labor of love and a passion for providing a reliable digital network to the amateur radio community. It is a service I host entirely for the enjoyment of the hobby—not for competition, recognition, or political drama. At times, the personal and monetary costs of keeping this infrastructure online have been difficult to justify, but our commitment to our users remains unchanged.
We believe in full transparency. Our community is built on mutual respect, and we trust our users to see through the noise. However, if anyone chooses to entertain or believe the rumors that are about to be spread, you are free to step away with no hard feelings. For those visiting our platform for the first time who might be hesitant due to outside rumors, we encourage you to explore other excellent networks like Hams Over IP. Because our networks are fully interconnected, you will still be able to call operators on our system just the same.
Thank you to the overwhelming majority of operators who make this project worth the effort. If anyone has genuine questions or concerns regarding these recent actions, my door is always open. Please feel free to reach out to me directly, and I will be happy to answer you.
