Hi, My name is Roger also known in hamradio as KE8LCM. I am the founder of AmateurWire and along with my admin team we try to keep the lights on your phones green. I am 45 years old and live in WV and unfortunately survive and support this service and my family on Social Security Disability. I wish I didn’t but here we are….. In 2021 I financed my first vehicle from a car lot and it was great but also rushed as the current vehicle we had was no longer able to pass a state inspection due to rust. So I got my hands on a 2008 Ford Explorer and made every single payment on time.. Never missed a single one or had any late. It had around 121,000 miles on it when I got it and is now at 167,000 miles so it has served me well but recently the Transmission began acting up. Me being me I did the work myself over the past couple of days dropping the transmission pan and changing the fluid and filter. The fluid was of course burnt so bad it was darker than oil. The magnet in the pan was so loaded down that there was no way it could hold any more material….. I just paid this vehicle off in June 2025 so it made it a year after paying it off. Anyways to make a long story as short as possible now I am in need of another vehicle and just can not afford it. I also can not afford to make a down payment to finance another one like I did with this one so payments would be so high my only option to afford payments I do not want to even think about. Let’s just say I would have to cut expenses and one of the major ones I do not even wish to consider. So I decided to try and start a gofundme campaign to see if I can raise the money to just buy a decent used vehicle from someone somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I provide transportation for my household, my stepdaughters and because money is so tight I also use my vehicle to deliver doordash and spark deliveries at times to help stay afloat so having a vehicle is very important to me and my family.
